Our client in the Technology industry is currently seeking a Software Test Engineer (Validation Engineer) for a Twelve (12) months mandate.

Employment specifications :

• Ottawa
• 35 hours per week
• On Site

Your schedule could look like:

• Contribute to a reference implementation project for a critical software platform where correctness and clearly defined behavior are essential.

• Validate core system functionality and ensure implementations align with documented specifications and reference models.

• Work from requirements, architecture documents, interface definitions, and behavioral models to design and execute a disciplined validation strategy. This includes identifying gaps, ambiguities, and edge cases, and validating system behavior through functional, integration, regression, and fault-handling scenarios.

• Develop test plans, tests cases, and validation procedures from requirements and architecture.

• Design, execute, and maintain automated tests for functional, integration, regression, and negative scenarios.

• Execute functional, integration, regression, and fault-handling tests.

• Design and run fault-injection and edge-case scenarios.

• Validate system behavior against specifications and reference models.

• Document defects and collaborate with development teams on investigation and resolution.

Must-have :

• Background in software validation or test engineering for technically complex systems.

• Experience in test design, defect analysis, and expected-vs-actual result analysis.

• Experience in identification of inconsistencies, ambiguities, and missing behavior in requirements and specifications.

• Expertise in derivation or tests strategies and coverage from requirements, architecture, and interfaces.

• Experience in reasoning about system behavior beyond executing predefined tests cases.

• Experience in participating in debugging and system-level validation with development teams

• Expertise with protocols, systems, or conformance testing background (Asset).

• Experience with validation work in a Linux environment (Asset).

• Experience with fault injection, structured validation, or model-based testing (Asset).

• Exposure to modern C++ concepts and toolchains (Asset).

• Knowledge of scripting or test automation (Asset).

• Knowledge of UML or Requirements traceability methods (Asset)
